Foxen, who now has $26.5 million in Hendon Mob-reported earnings , followed the bracelet win with two deep runs in Online Event #6: $500 No Limit Hold’em Turbo Deepstack and Event #58: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better (8-Handed) to make him the latest PokerNews WSOP Player of the Week . Despite not having a bracelet to his name until recently, Foxen has long been a crusher on the high roller circuit. In 2018, he finished second in the Super High Roller Bowl $300,000 No Limit Hold’em for $2.1 million, his biggest score until this week.
Foxen, a former football tight end for Boston College, won his first piece of WSOP hardware in 2011 when he took down a $355 buy-in event at WSOP Circuit Harrah’s New Orleans — the first Circuit event he ever entered.
To win his first bracelet, Foxen had to navigate through a field of 56 entrants and a final table that included Phil Ivey , Adrian Mateos , Sam Soverel and Dan Zack . Foxen ultimately defeated high stakes regular Brandon Steven during heads-up play to win the coveted first bracelet and take home a new career cash.
“It really means a lot to me. It’s kind of been a monkey on the back. I’ve always wanted a bracelet. I’ve had some close spots and always been disappointed … this feels like a really special one to get my first in,” Foxen told PokerNews after the victory. “To me, what means the most is consistent performance at the highest stakes. This is one of those, so it feels really good.”
