Market Monitor: Pennsylvania August 2024

The PA online poker market generated $2.2 million in revenue in August, just above the historic market low set in June. The market is down 9% on the same month a year ago.

August’s story remains similar to previous months. The big two operators, PokerStars (Mount Airy license) and WSOP (Harrah’s) both saw their revenue fall year-over-year — 17% with the former, 12% the latter.

Meanwhile, BetMGM, on the Hollywood license, continues to chip away at their lead. Its revenue was up 33% on August 2023. It enjoyed a market share of 19% last month, an all-time high.

When combined with its smaller network partner Borgata, on the Rivers-Philadelphia license, the pair generated more revenue than WSOP last month — $536k vs $447k. The pair have been trading places for much of the last year.
