PokerStars has partnered with Women Who Code (WWCode) to further female representation in gaming.

The online poker giant will join WWCode’s community partners programme as its first gambling affiliate and feature in the organisation’s newsletters, social media posts, blog updates and events.

Set up to inspire and support women in technology careers, WWCode is an international non-profit aimed at improving gender equality across various industries.

It supports diversity and inclusion programmes to create pathways for female professionals to leadership positions within companies.

“We are proud to officially become the first gambling partner of Women Who Code and recognise the same values and desire to inspire women to excel in their technology careers,” said Rebecca McAdam Willetts, Associate Director of Group Public Relations at PokerStars.

“Together, we hold a vision of a world where women are proportionally represented as technical leaders, executives, founders, VCs, board members and software engineers.”

With this announcement, PokerStars reiterated its commitment to improving diversity and “to always foster an inclusive environment while celebrating, respecting, valuing and supporting differences.” Among its efforts in this area, the company highlighted its ‘Our Voices’ community; a platform launched on International Women’s Day 2021 where women in poker can offer their unique insights.

PokerStars also noted its continued push to engage female poker players by “shining a light” on women in poker and the gambling industry at large by offering unique content, special giveaways, events and promotions.

McAdam Willetts concluded: “At PokerStars we are allies to all the amazing women in the industry. Bet on yourself, join our team and make your next chapter the best one yet. Remember, all it takes is two words — I’m in.”
