Market Monitor: Pennsylvania October 2021

Revenue from online poker in Pennsylvania slipped 2.4% month-to-month to $2.9 million in October, according to data from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB).

However, PA online poker revenue was up 17.8% year-to-year. October was also the third-highest month for the vertical in 2021.

PokerStars PA , on the Mount Airy Casino Resort license, remained the state’s top online poker room with about $1.9 million in revenue and 65% of the market, but both figures were down from $2.0 million and 67% in September.

WSOP PA maintained its second-place spot for a third consecutive month. It had $587k in revenue, down from $603k the month prior, but the market share remained unchanged at about 20.5%.

However, the two smaller poker operators, BetMGM Poker PA and Borgata Poker PA , sharing the same player pool, both grew their revenue and market share in October.

Operating under the Hollywood Casino license, BetMGM reported $303k of revenue and held 10.5% of the market in October, up from $271k and 9.5% in September. Meanwhile, Borgata, which is partnered with Rivers-Philadelphia, had $108k in revenue and about 4% of the market, up from $93k and about 3% the month prior.

PA online casino revenue eclipsed the $100 million mark by landing directly on it in October. Revenue from the vertical was up 5.4% month-to-month and 74.5% year-to-year.

Hollywood’s online casino operators—BetMGM, DraftKings and Barstool—led the vertical in October with $40.3 million in revenue and 40.5% of the market. Revenue was up month-to-month ($38.4 million) but market share was unchanged.

Rivers and its operator partners—Borgata and Rush Street Interactive (RSI), which owns the BetRivers and PlaySugarHouse brands—grossed $26.2 million and held 26% of the market in October. Revenue and market share at Rivers were both down slightly month-to-month, from $26.6 million and 28%.Valley Forge Casino and its online casino partners, FanDuel Casino and Stardust Online Casino, had $18.8 million in revenue and about 19% of the market in October, up from $15.8 million and 16.5% in September.PCGB data show the seven smaller online casino operators generated a combined $14.8 million in revenue, or 14.8% of the market.
