As Online Poker Enters its High Season, PokerStars Holds on to Market Lead

The online poker industry is now well into its peak season. Total traffic across the global dot-com online poker networks recently peaked at 16,000 average concurrent players, up from its low of around 13,000 during the quieter summer period.

It is PokerStars that leads the market. At just over 6000 concurrent cash game players, it enjoys a slim but unwavering 3% lead over challenger GGPoker, according to the latest data tracked by independent monitor GameIntel and available only on the PRO Data platform.

Indeed, the operator has enjoyed the number 1 position for almost six weeks, ever since usurping GGPoker in mid-October. It is the longest period either operator has enjoyed an unbroken run in the top spot of the cash game traffic rankings since GG briefly dethroned PokerStars back in the summer .
