Dash Dudley came into the 2022 World Series of Poker as a two-time bracelet winner, with his pair of previous victories coming in pot-limit Omaha. On June 15 of this year he nearly became a three-time champion at the series, but fell one spot short in the $50,000 buy-in PLO high roller event. Just two weeks removed from that runner-up showing, he made his way back to heads-up play and was able to seal the deal for his third career bracelet.
Dudley outlasted a field of 2,569 total entries in the $1,500 no-limit hold’em super turbo bounty event, earning the hardware and $301,396 as the champion.
“Feeling amazing. This is the story you dream of,” Dudley told WSOP reporters after coming out on top. “Three blinds left to start the day with 20 players left and somehow catch enough heat to get here and then close it out for number three. That was the goal this summer so it feels amazing.”
As Dudley said, he was the very shortest stack in the field coming into the second and final day of this fast-paced tournament that featured 20-minute levels. He had outlasted a number of notables who made deep runs, including Kevin ‘KevMath’ Mathers (362nd – $1,502), bracelet winner Joao Vieira (297th – $1,643), 2013 main event winner Ryan Riess (168th – $2,291), two-time bracelet winner Kevin MacPhee (153rd – $2,291), three-time World Poker Tour champion and recent online bracelet winner Brian Altman (120th – $2,569), bracelet winner Arkagiy Tsinis (99th – $2,569), bracelet winner Michael Wang (58th – $5,290), and 2022 Wynn Millions main event winner Tony Sinishtaj (26th – $11,208).
Dudley had worked his way into the middle of the pack by the time the field combined onto a single table. He survived to the final six, and then flopped a set of sevens to double up. He then won a big three-way all-in with A-K suited against two players who held K-J. Harpreet Padda was the player at risk, and he finished fifth for $77,945.
