Docherty Defeats Nitsche To Become GUKPT Luton Champion

David Docherty Scotland’s David Docherty joined a long list of GUKPT Luton Main Event champions when he took down the 2021 edition on October 17. Docherty navigated his way through a star-studded field of 513, and defeated four-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Dominik Nitsche heads-up, to get his hands on a £138,000 payout. 2021 GUKPT Luton Main Event Final Table Chip Counts

Former GUKPT Luton champion Jamie O’Connor was one of the first in-the-money players to bust, falling in 46th for £2,540. Andrew Hulme (44th – £2,540), Endrit Geci (39th – £2,650), Maz Bako (31st – £2,820), two-time GUKPT Luton winner Driton Haxhiaj (22nd – £4,150), and Team Grosvenor’s Rick Trigg (16th – £4,700) all saw a return on their £1,100 investment.

As did the in-form Jack Hardcastle (14th – £5,250), and Tom Hall (10th – £7,740), the latter’s elimination setting the final table.

David Crane , who finished third in this event in 2019, had to make do with a ninth-place finish this time around. Ninth place came with an £8,550 cash lump sum.

With Crane out of the way, the remaining players locked in at least a five-figure sum. Min Ji crashed out in eighth for £10,300 before Francis Obadun helped himself to the £13,550 seventh-place prize, which was his best-ever cash haul.

Daniel Stacey bowed out in sixth for a £1,320 addition to his bankroll before Lee French ran out of steam in fifth and had to make do with a £24,610 payday. Aria Sarkeshik banked £38,710 when he came unstuck in fourth.

Third-place and £60,700 went to Leon Campbell , who moves past $400,000 in live tournament winnings with this impressive result.
