PokerStars’ iconic Sunday Million tournament has been struggling to meet its guarantee lately when run as a regular edition.
Last Sunday, the industry’s biggest weekly online poker tournament with its now standard buy-in of $109 attracted 9154 entries, falling short of its requisite 10,000 figure leading to an overlay of $84,600. Even taking the operator’s fee into consideration, the tournament still amounted to an outlay of just over $2000.
While it is nothing out of the ordinary to see the tournament miss its mark and, in fact, it has fallen short before , mostly during the low seasonal summer period or the following Sunday after a big tournament series.
This year, the story has been different. The tournament proven valuable to players on a frequent basis. As per data compiled by PRO, last Sunday was the sixth time that the flagship tournament fell short of its million guarantee this year.
