Indian Operators Return to Tamil Nadu State After Court Quashed Online Gambling Ban

Indian regulated online poker rooms have relaunched their online poker operations in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The move comes in the wake of the recent milestone judgment by the Madras High Court striking down in its entirety the amendment to the Tamil Nadu Gaming Act which had imposed a blanket ban on real-money online games including online poker. Online poker rooms wasted no time in resuming their services in one of India’s biggest states after the ban was declared unconstitutional by the court. Adda52, PokerBaazi, Spartan Poker, MPL Poker—all of the top poker rooms in the country, which had previously left the market following the state government ban late last year—have resumed their operations in the state. The Indian segregated room of PokerStars has yet to relaunch its services but is likely to accept players from the Southern Indian state starting September 23, PRO has learned.
