Largest WCOOP Festival in History Pays Out $122 Million in Prize Money

Tournament players will likely get a breather as the last remaining high-profile festival of the month is finally in the rear-view mirror.

The 20th edition of PokerStars’ World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) winded down on Wednesday night, ending in jubilant fashion. Boasting a nine-figure total series guarantee , it was always on the cards that this year’s WCOOP festival would end up as the largest. It did not disappoint.

After six weeks of play and over 300 individual tournaments, this year’s Championship festival not only became the largest WCOOP but also the third-largest online tournament series to be ever hosted on PokerStars.

$122.5 million in prize money was generated across the series, attracting a staggering 1.4 million entries, according to PRO’s calculations. PokerStars reported a total prize pool over $126 million in a press release Friday; it is not clear from where this figure is derived (PRO’s numbers match those reported on the PokerStars Blog, once correcting a single data entry error in that report).
