Market Monitor: Michigan November 2021

Michigan’s online regulated casinos saw a 1.9% slide in revenue to $107.6 million in November, snapping a four-month streak for revenue increases, but remaining above $100 million for the third consecutive month, data from the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) show.

November also snapped a three-month streak for record revenue, but cumulative gross revenue for the year climbed to $992.2 million with November in the mix, meaning the Michigan market is on pace to more than exceed the $1 billion mark in its inaugural year.

Revenue figures for online casinos include poker because the MGCB doesn’t separate the two verticals. Since they are not reported separately, it is not known how much poker contributed to final revenue totals.

BetMGM stayed well ahead of the pack, as it has for the entire year, with $40.1 million in gross revenue in November, down slightly from its record high of $41.4 million in October. Among the five mid-tier online casino operators in the state, 8th place FOX Bet/PokerStars bounced most of the way back from a disastrous October, when they grossed just $985k after posting $2.9 million in September. November revenue was $2.5 million.

Fifth-place Golden Nugget also had a good November, with revenue hitting a record $5.8 million, up from $5.2 million in October. Sixth-place Barstool saw revenue tick up to $4.6 million, compared to $4.5 million in October.

BetRivers stayed firmly at the top of the mid-tier group and in fourth overall, with $7 million in revenue, down from $7.3 million in October. Wynn also slid, to $4.2 million, down from $4.3 million.

Caesars had an even better November, grossing revenue of $2.4 million — enough to slip just in front of Pala for 9th overall and the title of top operator among the six smallest in the state. Pala was also at $2.4 million, up from $2.1 million.

Three of the remaining four smallest operators also grew their revenue in November. Parx, Firekeepers, and PointsBet grossed $1.5 million, $1.3 million, and $801k – up from $1.4 million, $1.1 […]
