Ryan Riess Bags Big After GGPoker WSOP Online Main Event Day 1a

Ryan Riess WSOP Online The first flight of the Event #33: $5,000 WSOP Online Main Event on GGPoker attracted a field of 437 players with just 61 players advancing to Day 2 on September 26.

Only three players bagged over a million chips, with WSOP Circuit ring winner David Yan sandwiched between Canada’s ‘Lexandru’ and Day 1a chip leader ‘Sheogorath’.

However, the stand-out name will be former WSOP Main Event champion Ryan Riess who bagged tenth in chips with 645,512 from his starting stack of 60,000 chips. Earlier this year, Riess narrowly missed out on a second WSOP bracelet after finishing runner-up in Event #71: $1,111 One More for One Drop .

Riess ‘The Beast’ famously won the 2013 WSOP Main Event for $8,361,570 and finished fourth in the 2018 WSOP Europe Main Event five years later. He will surely be looking to make a deep run in the WSOP Online Main Event when play resumes on September 26.

Other notables through to Day 2 include bracelet-winners Yuri Dzivielevski (513,351) and Mikita Badziakouski (475,205). Dzivielevski picked up his first bracelet in June 2019 , and won a second during the 2020 WSOP Online in Event #42: $400 PLOSSUS .

Earlier this year he narrowly missed out on a second after losing heads-up to Dan Cates in the $50,000 Poker Players Championship .
