Sammy Farha got into a scuffle at Legends Poker Room in Houston, Texas. Details of the incident first surfaced online on the A Prominent Houston Poker Live Facebook group .
Farha, a three-time WSOP bracelet winner , had a long-running conflict with Thomas , also known as “Amjad,” “MJ,” and “AJ,” a former dealer at Legends dating back to Johnny Chan’s 88 Social poker room where Thomas used to deal.
It’s said that Farha was responsible for getting Thomas fired at 88 , a local poker club that has since shut down; however, Thomas was re-employed swiftly by a different poker room in the area.
After a previous altercation with Thomas at 88 Social, Farha allegedly declared that he had problems with Thomas being present at the Legends Club on last Thursday .
The two then had a heated argument resulting in the dispute turning worse. Thomas smacked Farha on the cheek before shoving him into the wall shouting: “I’m from Detroit, b***h, we don’t play around.” Management and other players intervened to try to break up the altercation. Farha and Thomas surged at each other ; Thomas appeared to strike Farha in the face . The club ordered both of them to leave immediately .
It seemed like Farha called the police as he was spotted addressing the incident with a uniformed officer in the Legends parking lot on Friday morning, and Fredrick Maxie posted the photo on the club’s Facebook group. Thomas Widespread Support
While Farha appeared to have gotten the short end of the stick , a vast majority of social-media commenters in Houston-area forums rushed to Thomas’s support, stating that Farha had long been worthy of such a reaction to his verbal abuse . Some even went ahead and said he is on every single dealer’s “most hated player list.”
The outpouring of love for Thomas extended well beyond mere words of encouragement, with offers of tournament buy-ins, rent, drinks, food, and other perks .
