All nine Atlantic City retail casinos averted strikes in July. That’s because 10,000 workers now have new contracts, with the final two casinos seeing a union contract ratification vote on Aug. 4.

Golden Nugget Atlantic City and Resorts Casino Hotel reached a tentative agreement with 1,000 workers who planned to strike on Saturday.

Their union, Unite Here Local 54, announced today: The agreements at Resorts and Golden Nugget mirror those of the other seven casinos that were settled and ratified earlier this month, with substantial wage increases for tipped and nontipped workers, housekeeping workload standards, and job protections. All nine casinos in Atlantic City now have agreements in place with the union Local 54. Golden Nugget, Resorts Agreement Not Yet Public

As with previous negotiations, the union isn’t yet making public what’s in the tentative contract agreements. Retail casino watchers will have to wait until the ratification vote.

Workers did say they wanted what 9,000 of their fellow union members already have.

On July 19 – when workers from Golden Nugget and Resorts , a Mohegan Sun property – voted to allow their union negotiating committee to authorize a strike without an agreement by Saturday, an employee voiced that sentiment.

Local 54 member J. Eger , a Golden Nugget bartender, said in that day’s union press release: We just want what workers at the other casinos in the city are getting.
