Poker has become one of the favourite online games in India among the youth. Varun Ganjoo, Co-Founder and Marketing Director Baazi Games, spoke with timesnownews.com about how the industry saw a spike during the pandemic and more.

The online gaming industry in India witnessed a big boost as youngsters across India stayed glued to their favourites games. During the pandemic, Poker emerged as one of the most popular online games in India.

Speaking to timesnownews.com , Varun Ganjoo, Co-founder & Marketing Director, Baazi Games shared his views on how his company Pokerbaazi has grown during the pandemic and the company’s plans going forward.

To start with, please give us a brief background about Pokerbaazi – how you thought of it, and when did it all start?

Poker is a relatively newer sport in India right now but if you look at the global picture it’s a big sport in the western market. We were at Manipal University, so I think it came from there. Back in college, we were introduced to this game. We used to play a lot of Poker and that’s how it came to our knowledge. It’s quite an interesting game which sort of gets you hooked onto it. That’s what happened to us. We were casually playing it and we got out of college as well. But our founder and Group CEO Nav Kiran was the one who was the most passionate about the game. He went to the US with his family, and that’s where he witnessed the World Series of Poker that was happening in Vegas then. It’s a yearly event and it’s the biggest event of poker, thousands of players go for that physical event.
