The inaugural online tournament series to mark the launch of PokerStars Ontario will get underway this Sunday. The aptly named Ontario Platinum Series — consisting of 90 events in total, squeezed into nine days — guarantees a combined CAD $1 million in prize money. The series culminates in a Main Event promising CAD $200,000 in prize money for a buy-in of CAD $300.
As the Ontario online poker player pool is segregated from the rest of the world , the series will be open exclusively to players within the province. The Ontario Platinum Series will be the first-ever online tournament series since the newly regulated market went live three months ago .
