The GG Online Championship at GGPoker just finished up its Main Event with Tobia Schwecht earning the first-place finish. The event offered a huge prize pool as just over 6,100 players took part. With over $8.7 million up for grabs, Schwecht would take home $727,640 after a deal was struck between the final four players.
Getting to the Final Four
On day 2 of the event, 916 players would return to the felt to compete for a spot at the final table. Eventually, the field would be narrowed down to the final nine, with each player set to earn a minimum five-figure payday. After the first five were knocked out of the competition, the remaining four decided to cut a deal . This would include Schwecht, Roman Hrabec, Arsenii Malinov, and Daniel Smiljkovic. Each player decided to discuss a deal that would make the pay jump smaller between each remaining finish.
Once the deal was agreed upon, the four began playing online poker once again. It would be Daniel Smiljkovic out in fourth, with third going to Arsenii Malinov. Schwecht would then go head-to-head with Roman Hrabec. It wouldn’t be long before both would be all-in with Hrabec holding the lesser chip stack.
The final hand would go to Schwecht, knocking Hrabec out in second and giving Schwecht the title win.
