Ontario made 81 cents per capita from poker in Ontario in Q3. That was just one cent better than New Jersey, but Pennsylvania was nearly 25 cents lower.

Operators in Ontario made less revenue from igaming than their counterparts in New Jersey and Pennsylvania during Q3 2023 — but Ontario online poker apps north of the border made more revenue per capita and accounted for a greater percentage of total revenue than those stateside.

Data from regulatory agencies in all three jurisdictions show that while Ontario is a much younger market for igaming, online poker appears to be more popular in the Canadian province.

The provincial regulator iGaming Ontario (iGO) reported in mid-October that revenue from online poker totaled CAD $16 million (USD $11.8 million) during its Q2 2023, which is the period that began on July 1 and ended on September 30.

By comparison, data from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) show poker operators in the Keystone State grossed about $7.5 million during the same three-month period. Meanwhile, according to the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE), online poker operators in the Garden State had nearly identical revenue for the quarter.
