Short Stacks: ‘The Mouth’ Partners with Texas Poker Room, Stations Casinos Sued

Mike Matusow has partnered with 52 Social Austin (Image: Twitter/themouthmatusow) Matusow announced he is partnering with 52 Social Austin , a poker room just a few miles from The Lodge, the room co-owned by Doug Polk, Andrew Neeme, and Brad Owen . It opened in January as a sister property to 52 Social South in Houston.

“We’re not there to compete, we’re there to build the Austin market along with The Lodge and whoever else opens, because the more poker rooms, the better,” Matusow said on his podcast Sunday . “I’m looking forward to this venture.” The first time he’ll step foot in 52 Social Austin is the weekend of April 9, hosting meet-up games all the way until April 11, when a $200 bounty tourney takes place.

“It’s a very beautiful room, absolutely gorgeous. The owners put a lot of time and money into it. I’m really looking forward to this,” Matusow said in Sunday’s podcast.

This comes a month after Matusow announced his partnership with Poker House Dallas ended before it even got started.

Matusow said despite signing a letter of intent and being given the OK to announce his association with Poker House Dallas on social media in February, as soon as he did, he was asked to remove everything. He was soon told they don’t want to work with him, he said.

“I’m pretty disappointing what happened there. To make a long story short, they got cold feet and told me they have no interest in doing business with me,” he said on his podcast March 6.

Despite Matusow’s sour grapes, Poker House Dallas’ partner Smoky Brown had nothing but praise for “The Mouth.”
