The Wynn Las Vegas Debuts New “Milestone” Hybrid Satellite

Wynn Las Vegas For their Fall Poker Classic (FPC) satellites scheduled for 5 p.m. PT on October 13th and 14th, Wynn Las Vegas is debuting a new hybrid format. The $300 buy-in “Milestone” satellites – which will award seats into the FPC’s $1,600 buy-in, $1M GTD No-Limit Hold’em tournament – allow players two routes to securing a seat: A player who accumulates 150,000 in tournament chips (“The Milestone”) or more will instantly be awarded one (1) Tournament Prize. Upon verification from the tournament supervisor that the player has achieved the Milestone, the player will cease play and the total of his/her chips will be removed from play.

The Tournament will conclude when the number of players remaining is equal to the number of $1,600 prizes generated based on the Tournament Prize Formula, less the amount of players who have previously won the prize by reaching the Milestone.

Any Tournament prize pool residual funds, less than a full $1,600 prize, will be paid to the last player eliminated prior to the number of remaining players being equal to the amount of Tournament Prizes remaining.

We had to find an incentive for players to continue playing.”

He continued: “Ultimately, we conceived this event which is a bit of a hybrid. The Milestone creates the incentive to be aggressive, and players must continue to play when the tournament normally starts to slow as players begin to tighten up. By creating that incentive to drive action, it gives below-average stacks a chance to chip up, because now there are chips going into the pot (from players striving to get to the Milestone). In […]
